Karbi-Rengma rage fall-out ? 9 decomposed bodies found in Nagaland

Highly de-composed bodies of nine un- identified persons, who were blindfolded with hands tied up, have been found buried in a gorge near Chumukedima in Dimapur district of Nagaland.
Police discovered the bodies lying atop each other last night, Dimapur SP VZ Angami said today.
The victims were found blindfolded with hands tied behind and shot from close range on the heads, he said, adding that the bodies were covered with a blue polythene sheet over which some boulders were placed.
It was suspected they might have been killed about two weeks ago as their bodies were in a decomposed state beyond recognition.
The SP said that there was no missing report in any of the police stations under his jurisdiction and did not rule out the possibility of the crime being committed in some other place and the bodies were dumped in the area.
The information about the bodies was passed on to the police by some labourers who noticed a foul smell emanating and some human feet visible.
Angami said that a case had been registered and investigation was in progress.
NNN adds from Dima-pur: Indefinite curfew has been enforced in the Bokajan area adjoining Dimapur following the spreading of the Rengma-Karbi ethnic problem to the area which is fast heightening.
One Karbi man was killed this evening in the Nagaland-Assam border near Dimapur.
Reports said militants believed to be from the Naga Rengma Hills Protection Force (NRHPF) shot dead the man at 6 pm today and injured seven others.
Newmai News Network also reported that of the nine people found killed in Dimapur, one has been identified as a Karbi student association leader based in Bokajan.
However, detail reports of it is awaited.
A post mortem examination on nine decomposed bodies who are believed to have been murdered over a week ago near Pachaspura area in Chumekedima area under Diphupar Police Station, Dimapur is being carried out at Dimapur District Civil Hospital since this morning.
The identities of the victims and the cause of the murder still remain unexplained, till the filing of this report.
Talking to this Network today afternoon, Superintendent of Police Dimapur, VZ Angami said, till now the post-mortem is going on and nothing could be said till the police receives the reports.
He however said, once the post-mortem is done, a public notice will be issued inviting media persons and general public to identify the bodies.
