General strike affects normal life

Thoubal/Bishnupur, September 27 2018:
The 48 hours general strike imposed by AMSU, MSF, DESAM, KSA, SUK and AIM demanding immediate release of arrested MU teachers and students has affected normal life in Thoubal district.
All the shops, street vendors and private offices remained closed.
Passenger services were also paralysed at Thoubal, Khangabok, Sangaiyumpham and Yairipok.
District police maintained strong vigil in the district to avoid unwanted incidents.
Bishnupur district was also severely affected by the first day of the general strike.
Though some markets were opened today, most of the markets in the district including Nambol Market, Oinam Market, Bishnupur Market, Ningthoukhong Market, Moirang Keithel, Kumbi Keithel and Kwakta Market were closed.
As per instruction of the State Government, some passenger vehicles were seen on the parking sites.
But absence of passengers put the efforts into vain.
The buses of Manipur State Transport continued its services and important Government offices, schools and colleges were opened with no students.
Police personnel were stationed along the roadsides and important places to thwart any unwanted incident during the strike.
