Imphal, August 18, 2012:
United Naga Council (UNC) and Naga Women's Union (NWU) have come out strongly against the cold blooded killing of Chunthuigai Kamei, General Secretary of Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur and Jenao Golmei of NSCN (IM) by cadres of NSCN (K) Zeliangrong Region in the evening of 16th August, 2012 at Nungkao(Luangkao) village under Tamenglong District.
In a joint statement, UNC and NWU said that at this time of peace and reconciliation among Naga brethren, the Nungkao killings have come as a rude shock to the Naga people.
Apart from obliterating two precious lives, the cruel action has greatly eroded the general goodwill and mutual trust that is slowly finding space in our society.
The civil society, which upholds the unity and oneness of society is greatly disturbed by the assassination of.
Chunthuigai, who has a proven record of selfless sacrifices and contribution to the community as a student leader, the joint statement said.
Observing that his sudden departure has created an emptiness that will not be filled up for a long time, the joint statement also prayed for the departed souls of Chunthuigai Kamei and Jenao Golemi to rest in eternal peace and for solace to the bereaved families to bear with the irreparable loss.
Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) has also condemned the killing of a student leader without giving any chance to rectify himself if he at all committed any misdeed and appealed to all the UG groups operating in Zeliangrong area to shun violence and stop fratricidal killing among Zeliangrong brethren.
