The Tangkhul Committee Peace and Confidence Building today organised a meet on reconciliation of Naga tribes under the aegis of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation, a body which formed in March 2008 to bring about reconciliation of Naga tribes.
Dr Wati Aier, convener of the organising body, Forum for Naga Reconciliation, Zubra Vero, a representative of the Naga National Council/Federal Government of Nagaland, representatives of two groups of NSCN and leaders of social organisations took part in
the meet.
Speaking at the meet, Dr Wait Aier recalled the birth of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation in March 2008 and said the forums is a platform for representatives of Naga Hoho, Eastern Naga Students Federation, Naga Women Union Manipur, UNC and other important organisations of Nagas to exchange ideas, hold debates and discussions to bring about reconciliation.
Since the birth of the forum, three big gathering to discuss on the reconciliation of Naga tribes were held and representatives of altogether from 49 organisations had taken part.
This shows people's confidence on the forum, he added.
He also informed the gathering that in June 2009, leaders of NSCN (I/M), NSCN (K) and Naga National Council (NNC) had signed a joint declaration to work together.
The declaration received overwhelming welcome from the political parties, terming it as an historic event.
For this, Nagas should thank the three bodies.
The signing of the pack was not the final, Dr Wati said adding that in the aftermath of the joint declaration, a joint working group with one representative each of the three bodies was formed as conveners.
The joint working group had so far taken two significant decisions.
The decisions were.
to works together but not to take package offered by India government with condition.
Even though, the process for unification has started, until they are physically unified, it will not bring any fruitful outcome.
There is the need of unification, he went on to observe.
The forum is making all out efforts to unify the three groups as one.
In this venture, the forum is working together with the Naga political parties, he said urging the people to raise voices for unification.
Many other leaders present in the meeting talked on the occasion.
