Opposition team returns in high spirit

A delegation of Opposition parties in the state including CPI, MPP, JD (U), JD (S), CPI (M), Trinamool Congress and BJP, which had gone to Delhi to brief National leaders over the alleged 'rampant corruption' in CM, O Ibobi led Congress government returned to Imphal with optimism.
Addressing a press conference here at the office of JD (U) at Babupara here today, Dr M Nara, Secretary of CPI, Manipur State Council, informed that during their stay in Delhi from November 5 to 7, the delegates met national leaders and also submitted a memorandum to the Speaker of Lok Sabha.
Since the Speaker of Lok Sabha was abroad on official tour, the memorandum which highlighted various issues like illegal appointments in the State Assembly Secretariat, Loktak Lake scandal involving crores of rupees and the issue of misappropriation of huge amount of funds sanctioned in connection with implementation of ICDS project under the State Social Welfare Department, etc, was handed over to the convener of NDA and President of DD(U) Sharad Yadav, who assured that he would hand over the same to the Speaker, Dr Nara said.
During their three days' stay in the National capital, the delegates of the seven opposition political parties met CPI leaders AB Bardhan and Gurudas Gupta as well as Member Secretary of CPI (M) Nilotpal Basu; President of JD (U) Sharad Yadav; Sushma Swaraj of BJP and Mukul Roy of Trinamool Congress and briefed them in detail about the alleged deep-rooted corrupt administration of Chief Minister O Ibobi in Manipur, Dr Nara added.
In all these meetings, the National leaders gave the assurance that the issues related to illegal appointments in Manipur State Assembly, Loktak Lake scandal and misappropriation of fund in Social Welfare department, demand for repeal of AFSPA, etc would be brought up in the Parliament session which is due to commence from November 22, Dr Nara informed.
The national leaders while meeting with the delegates from Manipur have also assured that the ongoing peace talk between the Indian Government and the NSCN-IM will not affect the territorial integrity of the state nor go against the interest of the people, Dr Nara said, while reiterating that the Opposition parties would surely take active role in this regard.
State President of JD (U) M Tomba, President of MPP S Umananda; State General Secretary of BJP Nilamani and State Secretary of CPI (M) Salam Sarat were also present at the press conference.
