Imphal, June 09 2014:
The rift within the Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress (MPTC) has widened as three legislators of the party were suspended from the primary membership of the party with immediate effect while another three were served show cause notices for allegedly indulging in anti-party activities on Monday.
Announcing this to newsmen at his official quarters here, MPTC president M Shyamkumar recalled that All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) General Secretary Derek O'Brien had recently issued an order regarding his appointment as president of the State unit of Trinamool Congress and said that the suspension of three MPTC MLAs namely Kh Joykishan, O Lukhoi and Th Bishwajit have been effected in accordance to an order from AITC genweral Secretary Mukul Roy issued on June 2 for their anti-party activities.
Shyamkumar claimed that the three MLAs worked for other political parties and undermined the principle and norms of the party during the recent Lok Sabha polls in the State.
They also openly spoke against MPTC in a selfish manner and seriously ridiculed and underestimated the party.
They have also been served notices to explain and expiate themselves from the charges within 15 days, Shyamkumar stated, adding that other three MPTC MLAs namely Dr I Ibohalbi, K Sarat and Kunjo have also been served show cause notices and given 15 days time to explain themselves that they did not carry out any anti-party activities.
Shyamkumar said information in this regard will be formally given to the Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Kim Gangte and to all Trinamool MLAs in Manipur.
