MPTC crisis snowballs

The internal crisis rocking Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress (MPTC) who is rooted in the race for party president is only growing worse as MLA Kh Joykisan who is claiming to the party's new president, MLA Th Bishwajit and O Lukhoi have been suspended from the party's State unit primary membership by All Indian Trinamool Congress on the charge of indulging in anti-party activities.
Moreover, MLAs Dr I Ibohalbi, K Sarat and M Kunjo have been served show cause notices which are answerable within 15 days.
AITC State unit president Th Shyamkumar issued an order yesterday by which self styled president Kh Joykisan, Th Bishwajit and O Lukhoi were suspended from the party's primary membership.
Their membership can be reinstated if the come up with a satisfactory explanation on why they defected from the party within 15 days, Shyamkumar said.
Speaking to media persons at his residential quarters this evening, MLA Shyamkumar said that AITC General Secretary Mukul Roy issued an order on June 2 by which the MPTC Committee was abolished and Kim Gangte was terminated from the post of party president.
"The same order appointed me AITC Manipur unit president apart from setting up a new executive committee", claimed Shyamkumar.
He said that disciplinary actions are being initiated against the party six MLAs for voting against the party in the Lok Sabha election held recently in addition to making anti-party statements.
