Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), Churachandpur expresses its hearty congratulation to four-time world champ pugilist, MC Mary Kom, on her being awarded the nation's highest sporting award - Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna.
A statement issued by the general secretary of KSO, CCPur, S Lamminlun noted that MC Mary Kom is the first ever Manipuri tribal - and the first among the Chin-Kuki-Mizos - to be given such prestigious award.
"Her achievement has posed great challenge and it has been an inspiration to many sports loving Kukis.
This accomplishment heralds the progress in the field of sports and it would be surely an encouragement to the Chin-Kuki-Mizo people in particular and the Manipuris in general in the field of Women Boxing sporting event," the KSO statement observed.
Further, the KSO statement lauds MC Mary Kom for maintaining her consistency and persistence on achieving her goals.
Wishing her a more brighter and prosperous career in future, it expressed hope that she would bring more laurels and glory for the state and particularly for the Chin-Kuki-Mizo people.
The KSO is also optimistic that many more would follow her footsteps in coming days.
