Two leaders remanded into police custody

Out of the four leaders of Apunba Lup picked by the police yesterday two have been remanded into police custody till September 4 while the rest two released on bail today.
Meanwhile, Apunba Lup today reaffirmed its decision to boycott of the MLAs which has announced earlier.
Police have rounded up four leaders of the Apunba Lup spearheading the people agitation against alleged July 23 fake encounter of Khwairamband Bazar last evening.
All the four, Mutum Ibemhal Devi (70) of Uripok Sorbon Thingel, Meyengbam Radhesana (70) of Thangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai, Oinam Bikramjit of Oinam Mamang Leikai and one Amuthoi were produced in the court of chief judicial magistrate, Imphal.
Among them Birkram and Ibemhal were remanded into police custody till September 4 while Radhesana and Amuthoi have been released on bail.
The Working Committee of the Apunba Lup who announced boycott to Congress MLAs as well as MLAs of the SPF's coalition partner from today took a firm decision to oust chief minister O Ibobi.
Reaffirming the stand of the body, a statement the Apunba Lup today the agitation along with the social boycott of all 60 MLAs if chief minister do not resign from his post will not retreat.
The statement while alleging that politicians of the state are the agents of the Indian government to kill, torture and terrorize the people of the state after merging with the Union expressed that these politicians of the state are using police commandos and state security forces in killing the innocent people of the state.
It also demanded that police should immediately stop chasing behind the functionaries of the Working Committee of Apunba Lup and instead of trying to suppressed the agitation of the people, government should punish the police commandos, state DGP, senior SP, Imphal west and additional SP.
Chief minister, O Ibobi should resign on moral ground, the statement reiterated adding that if not so, the body will boycott all the 60 MLAs of the state till the objective of the people agitation is fulfill.
