Khongsang village asks neighbour not to encroach

Asserting that the encroachment of Khongsang village land by Kaikou villagers is uncalled for, Kiungampou Gonmei, chief of Khongsang village, Tamenglong district today asked Kaikou villagers to stop encroaching the village land .
Addressing a press meet today at Manipur Press Club, Kiungampou Gonmei said that Khongsang and surrounding villages like Mongjarong Khunou, Rangpang, Thingou, Sangrungpang, Taobom (Irang), Awangkhul, Tabonglong etc have made a joint declaration to establish the truth and facts and to bear testimony to the long established inter-village boundaries as handed down from their forefathers in order to restore peaceful co-existence and harmony among the surrounding villages.
Even after this, Kaikou villagers have encroached the land belonging to Khongsang which is uncalled for, he said .
Producing the joint declaration before the media, the village chief said his villagers are inheriting the legacy of their forefathers.
It is unbecoming of Kaikou villagers to disturb the peaceful environment by encroaching the land of Khongsang, he said.
The chief added that boundaries among the villages are marked as per the customs and traditions .
Khongsang villagers are contented inheriting and preserving the village boundary, he said while urging all concerned to refrain from encroaching their land.
VA Chairmen of Taobam, Awangkhul, Sungrungpang, Mongjarong Khunou, Tabonglong and Thingou were also present in the press meet.
