1 Army jawan killed, three hurt in PLA's IED attack

Imphal, February 26 2013:
At least one Army personnel was killed while three others sustained injuries when two powerful bombs planted by suspected cadres of PLA, armed wing of RPF, exploded at a spot in between S Kotlen and Torbung Bungalow along Tiddim road in Churachandpur district today.
RPF has claimed that the attacks was carried out by cadres of its armed wing, PLA.
The incident took place at around 6:30 am today when personnel of 1/11 Gorkha Regiment posted at Khangjeng Village in Churachandpur, were on a foot-petrol duty.
The site of the incident is situated abnout 8 kms to the north of Churachandpur police station.
The twin blast broke out as soon as the patrolling team reached a culvert.

According to police report, the twin blasts took place on either side of Tiddim road killing one Army man identified as Lance Naik Waqt Kailash (29) of 107 Engineering Unit, Leimakhong Army Headquarters, but attached to 1/11 Gorkha Regiment on the spot and injuring three others.
The deceased Army man hailed from Manorigoan, Maharashtra.
The three others who sustained injuries in the bomb attacks are Lance Naik M Sunilkumar, Havildar Amit Tamang and Subedar Raj Bahadur.
Their sniffer dog (No B-866 'Dora') was also killed in the explosion.
The injured were immediately evacuated to the Army unit Hospital located at Khengjang.
From there, the wounded jawans were later shifted to the Leimakhong military hospital for medical treatment.
Soon after the twin blast, a large reinforcement of Churachandpur Police and Army personnel rushed to the spot and conducted an extensive search operation.
However, there is no report of any arrest made during the operation.
The Churachandpur Police has registered a case under FIR No.21(s)2013 CCP-PS U/s 121/121-A/302/307/326/341PC 5 of Explosive Substances Act and 20 UA(p) A.Act in connection with the incident.
Meanwhile, a powerful IED weighing 3.3 kg, which was found planted near the camp of 25-BRTF at Lamphel was picked up by bomb experts of the Manipur police and safely defused it at Langol area around 8:50 am today.
