Cop refuses to file FIR

Police have refused to take up action, alleged a woman who was raped by her friend's brother in the name of eloping as his wife without her consent.
According to the woman who is a softball player, the incident occurred on last February 11 at the house of her friend Laishram Ngoubi, playmate of the victim woman at Lilong Chajing Mairenkhong where she went to attend a Nahut-Nareng ceremony.
The victim woman, talking to reporters at a press conference at Manipur Press Club, recalled the faithful day and said after the ceremony, Laishram Nanda (30) son of late Deban, a relative brother of Ngoubi invited her for a visit to his house.
When she did not responded to the invitation, Nanda sent her younger sister, Abe, which she was compelled to visit him.
As one of his sisters who had married is her friend, she entered to the house without any hesitation.
Taking the advantage of it, she was kept confine in a room.
But on the insistence of Ngoubi, she was freed.
Later, two of Nando's sister in-law convinced her that she will be given a lift to her house.
But instead of lifting at her home, she was taken to another house at Wangoi in a van and attempted to rape her.
But due to her strong resistance, she was brought back against to Nando's house.
On the next day, two sisters of Nando came to the embroidery centre at Canchipur where she works.
They convinced her to go to a house of their friend at Singjamei Okram Leikai where Nando was found there in a van.
Nando forced her to van and taken to a house at Khurai where she stayed with him the night.
After the incident, she went to the Singjamei PS on February 17 to lodge a complaint about the incident and take up appropriate action against Nando and punish him according to law.
But police failed to take up appropriate action.
