MEDICA Shija Cardiac Programme launched

MEDICA Shija Cardiac Programme, an initiative of Shija Hospital and MEDICA Super-speciality Hospital Kolkata, to consult/treat heart related ailments including heart surgery, was launched at Shija Hospital today.
MEDICA Super-speciality Hospital Senior Vice Chairman as well as CTVS Director Dr Kunal Sarkar graced the function as the chief guest while Shija Hospital Managing Director as well as Chairman Dr Kh Palin attended as president.
MEDICA Hospital Cardiologist Consultant Dr Rana Rathor Roy, MEDICA Hospital president Dr Saumita Bharadwaj, Shija Hospital CTVS Consultant Dr Sidartha Lukram and Shija Hospital Cardiologist Consultant Dr Sumidra Laishram attended as the guests of honour.
The said programme will be fitting for East India and the North East region, said Dr Kunal Sarkar.
Even though health and life expectancy has improved considerably after India got independence, there are many places which lack proper medical facilities, he informed.
Dr Kunal continued that 10 lakh heart surgery is needed all over the country in a year but the present status of India is recorded at 3 lakh surgery per year.
Improvements can be witnessed but the pace is slow, he said.
As such, organising such programme is of utmost important.
