Imphal, June 17 2011:
Even as Manipur was an independent kingdom for more than 2000 years, the people of Manipur has been living a life of servitude since it was allegedly annexed to India on October 1949, said a press release issued by UCM.
Accusing the Government of India of continuously plotting to disintegrate Manipur, it cited the case of extending cease fire between Government of India and NSCN-IM to Manipur.
Observing that no cease fire is in force in Manipur between New Delhi and NSCN-IM, the UCM, nevertheless, noted that many clandestine camps of NSCN-IM are operating within Manipur.
The UCM demanded immediate dismantling of these camps.
Stating that UCM is standing steadfast against the repeated attempts of New Delhi to disintegrate Manipur, the UCM clarified that it does not see the whole Tangkhul community as adversary though NSCN-IM leader is a Tangkhul.
