M Tomtomsana arrested for bomb attack on MLA Oken

Moirangthem Tomtomsana @ Nongshaba (42) whose nomination was rejected has been arrested on charge of hurling bomb at the residence of Congress candidate M Oken today by Thoubal district police.
Tomtomsana was paraded before the media by Inspector S Sudhir, OC, Thoubal today.
Admitting his involvement in the bomb attack at the house of MLA M Oken on January 10 last, Tomtomsana said that ex-MLA Sobhakiran had asked him to carry out the attack which he did along with one Robinsana, a cadre of UPPK.
He further said that he was contacted by ex-MLA Sobhakiran who is an MPP candidate in the coming polls and arranged a meeting with Robinsana in his house where he was given the instruction to hurl the bomb at the residence of MLA, M Oken.
Robinsana even taught him how to hurl the bomb and escape unhurt.
He also said that he went to the house of MLA M Oken in a black Bolero of Sobhakiran along with ten other people and carried out the bomb attack.
He was also given a gun for his safety.
Speaking on the occasion, S Sudhir said that there are apprehensions that some intending candidates have been playing foul taking advantage of CorCom decision to carry out attacks on Congress workers.
He also appealed to the people to stay alert to avoid such incidents.
Further the arrest of Tomtomsana has nothing to do with his contesting elections.
Meanwhile, as the general election to the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly is at the doorstep, attacks on Congress workers continue unabated.
In one such incident this morning at around 8.10 am, unknown persons hurled a grenade at the residence of Md Hasmad Ali (52) of Keirao Menjor Ingkhol who is an active worker of Congerss candidate Md Alauddinof Keirao A/C.Police later recovered the grenade.
Just 20 minutes after the incident, police recovered a hand grenade from the house of Md Chaoba of Urup Khunou, a worker of Md Alauddin, which was hurled at by unknown persons.
Earlier at around 5.30 am, unknown persons deposited a hand grenade at the rear boundary of Congress candidate Ng Bijoy's house at Khurai Chingangbam Leikai which is incidentally happens to the gate of one Ngairangbam Joychandra.
Police later recovered the bomb.
In another incident at around 6 am today, Police recovered a hand grenade from the house of Huidrom Brojen of Ishok Awang Leikai which was hurled by some unknown persons.
Brojen is an active worker of Congress.
In yet another incident, two bomb were exploded at a temporary shed for Congress workers at Wangoo Sandangkhong at around 6.40 pm yesterday.
Fortunately no one was injured in the blast.
Meanwhile, police today resorted to firing tear gas shells and blank rounds to disperse a mob when a clash erupted between Congress workers and CPI workers at Kakching.
The incident occured when Congress candidate Y Surchandra went to enquire the health of an ailing elder person who is a neighbour of CPI candidate Naorem Achou.
