BSF man hurt in PLA's bomb attack

IN YET another bomb attack targeting security personnel, a BSF personnel was injured when a powerful bomb exploded near a waiting shed at Heirok Part II, Tomal Makhong under Thoubal District this evening.
Claiming the responsibility for the bomb attack on the party of 116 Bn BSF, D Coy at Heirok, the proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has informed that it was carried out by a special Warfare Group of the group's armed wing, People's Liberation Army (PLA) .
The bomb blast occurred at around 4:25 pm today.
The injured BSF personnel identified as Rothas (45) of Haryana, has been shifted to RIMS after administering first aid at Thoubal District Hospital.
He suffered bomb splinter injuries on his neck and left hand.
According to police reports, the bomb blast occurred at a waiting shed located in between Heirok Part II Ningthoujam Leikai and Thoudam Leikai, when the BSF personnel stationed at Chingdongpok post, numbering around 15 of them, were on their way back from daily patrolling duty from Heirok Bazaar.
The bomb was believed to be triggered via a remote control device.
Claiming responsibility for the bomb attack, Secretary Publicity T Leishemba of RPF said that it was carried out by a special Warfare Group of the group's armed wing, People's Liberation Army (PLA) .
Leishemba said that the bomb attack successfully inflicted casualties even to the extent causing death of some personnel, although security Forces would be trying to cover up instead of giving acknowledgement.
It shows that the Indian security forces have lost its dignity and courage while fighting the insurgents in Manipur.
On the other hand, the success of PLA's bomb attacks on security forces has once again brightened the hopes of victory of the ongoing struggle.
Deploring security forces for allegedly using innocent civilians to clear bushes and drains forcibly out of fear for possible bomb plantation that might be there in store for them, Leishemba called upon the civilians to fight for their right and refuse to clear the bushes and drains at the behest of security forces.
Even if they are forced to do so, they should demand the security forces first to check for explosive materials before cleaning and seek wages for
the work.
The statement also warned the security forces to refrain from such dictatorship of forcing the innocent civilians in future and said that if they continue to force the civilians in such activities, more severe and frequent attacks would be launched against them.
On the other hand, a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found planted near the office of Border Road Task Force (BRTF) at Lamphel at around 9 am today.
The BRTF office is located just adjacent to Lamphel Police Station on the Northern side.
The IED was reportedly first spotted by the gardener of the residential complex who in turn informed the other personnel who were on sentry duty at the gate of the residential complex.
Goutam Sahani, the gardener of 25 BRTF Commandant Mohanlal SE (civil), told media persons that he discovered a trash like package wrapped in a polythene bag inside the complex yesterday.
He later threw out the bag outside the gate thinking it was nothing but litter.
However, the sentries were informed about the unknown bag around 8:30 am today only.
When opened, an IED was found wrapped inside it.
The police said the bomb was not a local made one but made by a well established company.
It could have destroyed everything within a 100 metre distance.
They said a defusal plan for the bomb was aborted as it was very powerful so they seized it after registering an FIR.
