Four bravehearts from State to be honoured

Imphal, January 14 2013: In a first of its kind, in all four Manipuris would be receiving the prestigious Jeevan Raksha Padak Award, 2012 ,which is given by the Ministry of Home Affairs to persons of either sex in recognition of their meritorious act of humane nature and bravery in saving someone's life from the jaws of death.

The four bravehearts from Manipur namely Takhelchangbam Devajit Sharma, Johnson Tourangbam, Phurailatpam Boris Sharma alias Bode and Kshetrimayum Rakesh Singh are among 50 people selected from across the country for Jeevan Raksha Padak Award, 2012 .

The award is given in three categories, Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak, Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak and Jeevan Raksha Padak and persons of either sex in all walks of life are eligible for these awards.

The awards can also be conferred posthumously.

Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak is conferred for conspicuous courage in saving life under circumstances of very great danger to the life of the rescuer, and it carries a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh, a medal and a certificate signed by the Union Home Minister.

Three children, two from Kerala and one from Uttarakhand have been selected for the honour this time.

Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak is conferred for courage and promptitude in saving life under circumstances of great danger to the life of the rescuer and it carries a cash reward of Rs 60,000, a medal and a certificate, also signed by Union Home Minister.

In all 10 individuals have been selected including Kshetrimayum Rakesh of Manipur for the honour.

Under the third category, Jeevan Raksha Padak, which is awarded for courage and promptitude on saving life under circumstances of grave bodily injury to the rescuer, altogether 37 individuals have been selected from across the country including Takhelchangbam Devajit Sharma, Johnson Tourangbam and Phurailatpam Boris Sharma alias Bode from Manipur.

The award carries a cash reward of Rs 40,000 a medal and a certificate signed by the Home Minister.

It may be mentioned here that Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak awards are to be given to Vineetha PK of Kerala, Remya Rajappan , also of Kerala and Sangeeta Agarwal of Uttarkhand posthumously.

Apart from Kshetrimayum Rakesh Singh, the other recipients of Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak are Rahul Kevat of Madhya Pradesh, Shivam Rajendra Pandey (posthumous) of Maharashtra, C Thanthuama (posthumous) of Mizoram, Liankanglova of Mizoram, Ramesh Kompallu Babu of Andhra Pradesh, Lovely Verma (posthumous) of Uttar Pradesh, Mohammed Nishadh of Kerala, Prasantha Shandilya alias Khushi of Jharkhand and Mittal Mahendrabhai Patadiya of Gujarat.

Besides, the three bravehearts from Manipur, the others who have been selected for Jeevan Raksha Padak awards are Suresh CS (posthumous) of Kerala, Jishnu V Nair of Kerala, Pradeep Rai of Madhya Pradesh, Pradeep Shingare of Madhya Pradesh, Shahid Ismail Inamdar of Maharashtra, Ananda Ishwar Mane of Maharashtra, Shrikant Shamrao Mane of Maharashtra, Nitin Vilas Kore of Maharashtra, Lalramchhana of Mizoram, Lalchhuanliana of Mizoram, Lalrinzuali of Mizoram, K.T.Chungnunga of Mizoram, Nisar Khan of Rajasthan, Aji Cherippanattu Kochu of Kerala, Kartik Uppal of Delhi, Sham Raj Kishor of Punjab, Dr.Narendra Singh of Jammu & Kashmir, Saudhita Barman (Posthumous) of West Bengal, G.Parameswaran of Tamil Nadu, S.S.Madhu of Karnataka, Yandam Amara Uday Kiran of Andhra Pradesh, Durgesh Singh of Chhattisgarh, Devashish Pandey of Chhattisgarh, Shubham Kumar Tiwari of Chhattisgarh, Raju Dhruv of Chhattisgarh, Vipin Patel of Chhattisgarh, Anshif C.K.of Kerala, Suthrapu Shiva Prasad of Andhra Pradesh, Adithya Gopal (Posthumous) of Arunachal Pradesh, Ranjan Pradhan of Chhattisgarh, Paramjeet of Haryana, Sahsad.
