Imphal, March 11 2014 :
The JAC constituted against the killing of Moirangthem Ibosana and ex-MLA O Joy has condemned the failure of Manipur Police to pull up even a suspect in connection with the murder.
Chief Minister O Ibobi during a meeting with the JAC and ex-MLA O Joy on March 8 claimed that police investigation into the murder case has been completed by 60 per cent, conveyed JAC co-convenor T Nando during a press meet at Manipur Press Club today.
The Chief Minister also advised the JAC to claim the corpse and perform last rites as the culprits would be pulled up soon.
Acting on the advice, Ibosana's corpse was claimed and the last rites performed.
Again during a meeting with the Imphal West SP, the SP informed the JAC that investigation has been completed by 100 hundred.
However, no suspect has been pulled up till date.
The failure of police to pull up even a single suspect evokes strong suspicion whether there is a strong pressure from higher-ups or whether some influential groups have been conniving to shield the culprits.
Security forces are more concerned with protection of VIPs but security of common man does not figure anywhere.
Saying that the JAC would stage a protest demonstration at Kakwa, Nando appealed to all the people to take part in the protest demonstration.
Ex-MLA O Joy said that letting the culprits go scot-free would set off a dangerous trend.
Such failure would widen the disconnect between the Government and public.
The murder of Ibosana looked like it was done by some mercenaries out of personal enmity, Joy said.
Lawlessness has become the rule in Manipur.
It would not be a very nut to crack if police are committed to solve the murder case, Joy asserted.
Urging both the Government and police department to pay special attention to the case, Joy stated that he would join the next course of agitation if the Government fails to act positively.
Ibosana's brother-in-law E Sangai was also present at the press meet.
