Licypriya Kangujam named among top 100 Child Prodigies across the globe

8 year old Indian Climate activist Licypriya Kangujam has been named among "Top 100 Child Prodigies in the World", on recognition of her contributions on global climate movement.
A press release issued by media coordinator, International Youth Committee Headquarters stated that she was honoured with Global Child Prodigy Award 2020 yesterday in New Delhi by Lieutenant Governor of Pondicherry, Kiran Bedi in an auspicious event chaired by Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Kailash Satyarthi.
Licypriya is fighting to save the future by enacting a climate change law in India and other countries of the World, it said while adding that she had recently urged PM Modi to include climate change as compulsory subject in school curriculum.
Despite her tender age, she invented a symbolic device called SUKIFU (Survival Kit for the Future) to fight air pollution and also led thousands of people in hundreds of marches, calling urgent action from world leaders in over 21 countries, in last two years of her activism.
She had also met and helped victims of various natural disasters like landslides, floods, earthquakes, etc.
at various place across India and beyond.
Licypriya had also urged the world leaders along with Swedish climate activist Greta at the United Nations Climate Conference 2019 (COP25) in Madrid to fight climate change with concrete actions.
Inspired by the movement of Greta Thunberg, Licypriya even stood near the Parliament since February 2019 after she dropped out from school to draw the PM's attention.
After receiving the Award, she told the media, "I am grateful to Global Child Prodigy Foundation for recognizing my efforts.
I am fighting to save our planet and our future by tackling the climate change.
The Politicians are not doing nearly enough, just token gestures.
The ice caps are going to be huge disaster.
It's my future, I feel like I should continue to fight for it.
I dedicated this award to all climate strikers around the world".
UN Chief Antonio Guterres also praised Licypriya, in twitter, for her commendable works on climate change stating that she is the reminder of world's obligations to the future generations, it said.
The year 2019 also saw school children coming out in the streets urging the authorities to be serious about saving the planet.
Lt Governor Kiran Bedi, in her speech said, "These 100 child prodigies from across the globe are diamonds in the making who only need to be fine tuned and nurtured further.
They justify and establish the theory of reincarnation.
They are all future Nobel Laureates".
Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Kailash Styarthi stated that, "Such recognition to young future leaders is humility, pride for everyone.
They own the future.
They deserve to recognize with Top 100 Amazing Children of the World" .
Dr K Abdul Ghani, renowned Environmentalist quoted � "GCPA has taken up a unique initiative to honour children who have great talents and are extraordinary in their own way" .
