Bus driver abducted, UG couple held

Imphal, April 03 2012:
Suspected NSCN-IM cadres abducted a bus driver around 8:30 p.m.on Monday at Henbung village (along National Highway 39) under Kangpokpi police station, said a police source.
The bus bearing registration number MN04-A-0777 was coming from Senapati to Imphal when it was stopped by some armed persons at Henbung and the driver identified as Md.Abdul Nazir was abducted while abandoning the bus at the spot, said the police source.
The reason behind the abduction and the whereabouts of the driver is still a mystery till the time of filing this report.
In another unrelated incident, Imphal West police commandoes arrested a couple suspected to be cadres of Kangleipak Communist Party (Maoist) (KCP-M) from their residence, said a police report.
The couple was arrested at about 10:30 a.m.today when the police commandos conducted a search operation at Singda dam Kadangbam part 1 .
The arrested UG-couple have been identified as L.Dhanabir Singh alias Dhana alias Ebai (40) and his wife Binarani of Sinda dam Kadangbam part 1 under Lamsang police station.
The police commandos also reportedly recovered 2 IEDs and 5 detonators from the house of the arrested couple who were subsequently handed over to Lamsang police station for necessary action, the police source added.
