Myanmar charges India with constructing houses on their side

A meeting of the Border Liaison Officers (BLOs) of India and Myanmar was held at the conference hall of DC of Tamu town, Myanmar today, where Myanmarese officials charged the Indian delegates with constructing houses on the Myanmarese side of the border.
In the meeting, Th Chittaranjan Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Chandel led the Indian team while the Myanmarese team was led U Kyaw, DC of Tamu.
Other Indian delegates who participated in the meeting included E Priyokumar, SP of Chandel; S Goutam, SP of NAB; H Balram, SDPO Moreh; RK Amarjit, DFO Chandel; Major Das of 9 AR and Robert Kshetrimayum, ADC Moreh.
During the course of the meeting, the issue over erection of Border Pillar no.76 by the Myanmarese authority at the spot where there used to be Border Pillar no.23 was erected, was brought up for discussion.
The Myanmarese delegates complained that two Indian houses have been constructed inside the Myanmar territory near the Border Pillar no.76.The said area, however, is a part of Haolenphai village of Manipur.
The Indian delegates explained that the area in question a disputed site and charged the Myanmarese authority with constructing temporary base camps of the Myanmarese Army in the area recently.
The Indian delegates also proposed for joint survey of the disputed area and urged the Myanmarese authority to remove its Army base camp from the disputed border area.
They further urged the Myanmarese delegation to set free the six pilgrims from Manipur who have been arrested by them on humanitarian ground and also in consideration of the friendly relationship relationship between the two neighbouring countries.
The meeting also minutely discussed issues related to drug trafficking along the porous International border and deliberated on means to control it.
Both parties agreed to share information on drug trafficking cases along the border.
The Indian delegates also urged the Myanmarese authority to look into the matter of eatable items manufactured in Myanmar which are transported to India without manufacturing and expiry dates.
On the other hand, the Myanmarese delegates pressed the Indian authority to check infiltration of Bangladeshis to Myanmar through India.
