Art & Culture Minister L Jayantakumar Singh has conveyed that coordination of heart, mind and sound is necessary for a good music.
Speaking as chief guest at the "World Music Day 2018", which was held at Shri Shri Bal Mukunda Dev Music College, Palace Compound Imphal today, Minister Jayantakumar maintained that the art of music is well known to everyone.
The State is a good model with a rich cultural heritage, he said while adding that there are many plans to develop Art & Culture but paucity of fund has delayed to initiate new programmes and steps.
The Minister further suggested that musicians and those who aspire to be musicians should maintain a good health.
He said that the script of a song can't be ignored as it is the body of the song.
There are some recognised classical music listed in the classical category and steps to include Manipuri language in the scheduled list of Indian classical language has already been taken up, he added.
Jayantakumar also handed over a cheque of Rs 1,00,000/ - (one lakh) to the All Manipur Music Association (AMMA ) as assistance from the Art & Culture Department.
Today's observance was also attended by Guru Nongthombam Nongthon Singh, president of All Manipur Music Association and A Shivdas Sharma, MCS , Director Art & Culture as president and guest of honour respectively.
The function was jointly organised by All Manipur Music Association (AMMA) and Shri Shri Bal Mukunda Dev Music College, Palace Compound, Imphal.
In a different occasion, International Music Day was also observed by Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) Imphal at its Priyogopalsana auditorium today.
A Padmashree, eminent music composer and film director , A Shyam Sharma graced the occasion as chief guest while JNMDA Vice Chairman Prof H Tombi Singh attended as president.
Speaking at the event, AA Shyam Sharma stressed on the need to observe International Music Day while stating that it would be hard to survive without music.
He stated that music has been a part of people's lives and even in times of happiness and sorrow, marriage and death etc.
Those who love music should work diligently under a Guru in order to become successful musicians.
The people of Manipur have many talent and it is these talents that best represent the State.
