Tamenglong rally decries killing of student leader

Tamenglong, August 18, 2012:
Decrying the brutal killing of Chunthuigai Kamei, State Secretary ZSUM yesterday at Nungkao (Luangkao) village under Tousem Sub- Division of Tamenglong district, a mass rally was taken out at the district headquarters today.
Carrying banners and placards which read 'No killing of innocent', 'Students' union has no enemy', 'Students are future pillar of the society', 'Know your leader', 'We demand justice', 'Killing student leader is not Nagas' solution', 'Killing creates disunity', 'Never torture students', etc, hundreds of black-badges wearing students, their parents and public leaders participated in the rally which was flagged off from the Mini Stadium and passed through the Medical Gate before converging at the starting point again.
As mark of solidarity, all the shops and market places in Tamenglong district headquarters also remained shut down during the protest rally.
Meanwhile, a public condolence service was held at Noney bazaar shed today.
Thousands of people from different parts of the state attended the condolence service.
All passenger buses, Tata Sumos, DIs and other private vehicles remained stranded at Noney till the completion of condolence service.
After the condolence service a public meeting was held and later the body Chunthuigai Kamei was handed to his family for performing the funeral service.
The service was conducted by Rev.Sangaimei Gangmei, Principal of Tent Maker Academy.
During the public meeting, frontal organizations of Zeliangrong including Inpui Naga Union strongly condemned the brutal assassination of the student leader Chunthuigai Kamei, State Secretary, Zeliangrong Students' Union Manipur.
The meeting resolved that the culprit should be produced before the Zeliangrong Organisations within 25 August 2012.The meeting also resolved to launch non cooperation movement/ public movement against the organization responsible for the crime and appealed to all the revolutionary groups to shun fratricidal killing and help in promotion of reconciliation.
Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) has also strongly condemned the brutal killing of Chunthuigai Kamei.
