With just 17 days away from declaration of results of the recently held elections to the 10th Manipur State Legislative Assembly, a closed-door meeting of 10 non-Congress political parties of the state was held at Hotel Imphal, here today.
According to highly reliable source, the closed-door meeting of the 10 non-Congress political parties is a very significant development in political history of Manipur.
The 10 non-Congress political parties which were present in the meeting were PDF (NCP, JD-U, CPI-M, and RJD), NPF, CPI, AITC, MSCP and NPP.
During the three-hour long meeting, the leaders of the 10 non-political parties minutely discussed the political situation in Manipur and agreed to join hands in staking claim for the formation of next government in the state after the election results are out, the source disclosed.
However, talking to reporters after the meeting, Radhabinod Koijam, President,

NCP State Unit, maintained that issues to be put up before the ECI Observers, who are scheduled to arrive at Imphal on February 21, were discussed in the meeting today.
No discussion beyond that point was brought up in the meeting.
He informed that the meeting resolved to press the Observers to drop the idea of re-polling and proceed with counting of votes by invalidating all proxy-votes.
These resolutions will be put up for discussion with the ECI Observers.
Replying to a query on exclusion of Congress party from today's meeting if it was convened over re-poll issue only, Radhabinod Koijam asserted that it was a meeting of the minded political parties only and there was no discussion over government formation.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, PA Theko, Advisor, NPF, Manipur state unit, said that the NPF is a regional political party and it will make alliance with like minded regional parties.
The party is hopeful of being a partner of the coalition government that is expected to come up after the election results are out.
In response to a question, PA Theko observed that allegation of NPF having nexus with NSCN-IM or being supported by NSCN-IM is baseless.
But the allegation that NPF is supported by UNC is warmly welcomed.
Today's closed-door meeting was also reportedly attended by Dr Nimaichand Luwang,President, MPP; O Joy, leader, Legislature Wing, MPP; Th Chaoba, ex-MP; M Tombi, State Unit President,JD-U; Shantikumar Sharma, President, BJP, Manipur State Unit; Vivekraj Wangkhem of MSCP and Dr M Nara, CPI, State Secretary.
