Imphal, July 11 2019:
Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation (MMWO) has asserted that shifting of Border Pillar (BP) 82 towards India (300m) even before settling the issue of BP-81 has infuriated the people of Manipur.
Speaking to media persons at its office at Hafiz Hatta today, president of MMWO, Phundreimayum Abdullah said that encroachment into India's land by Myanmar authority is no new incident as they have done the same at BP-81 too.
Apart from shifting BP 82 several metres towards India, the Myanmar authority even had the audacity to restrict road construction at Indian territory, Abdullah lamented.
Claiming that the territory of Manipur is continuously targeted by the neighbouring country and Kabaw Valley was lost after joining India, he said that India Government should hand over the authority of protecting its territory to the State itself if they could not do the same.
He also questioned if the Indian Government will continue to remain mum if the territories of Rajasthan , Punjab or Jammu and Kashmir are encroached by Pakistan.
Abdulla also said that the internal tussle between the MLAs and Ministers of the State Government for change of leadership at such a critical juncture is very unfortunate.
MMWO is all set to launch intense agitation by joining hands with several CSOs to save the territorial integrity of the State, he added.
