International Day of Persons With Disabilities observed across different districts

Social Welfare Department Tengnoupal District has organized International Day of Person with Disabilities 2018 at Sinanu Institute of Science Hall, Maringphai Village in Tengnoupal District today on the theme "Empowering Persons with Disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality" .
As a part of the observance, gifts and sweets were distributed to 300 special children including students of Mission Blind School, Tengnoupal District.
The observance function was attended by K Subadani Devi, District Social Welfare Officer Tengnoupal and DL Kanchuimi, Principal in-charge Sinanu Institute of Science, Maringphai as dignitaries while other officials of Social Welfare Department, Tengnoupal District also took part in the function.
Bishnupur: As observed in different parts of the world, International Day Of Disabled Persons 2018 was observed at Kumbi Bazar in Bishnupur District organized by District Social Welfare Bishnupur in association with Society for Disabled Persons Manipur today.
The observance function which was organized on the theme "Let's live together with love and respect without any discrimination" was attended by MLA Kumbi AC S Bira Singh, MLA Thanga AC T Robindro Singh, Coordinator Art & Culture Govt of Manipur Naba Volcano, District Social Welfare Officer Bishnupur N Josiah Singh, Chairperson Kumbi Municipal Council W Priyoranjan Singh, Vice Chairperson Kumbi Municipal Council L Babita Devi, Councillor Ward No 3 N Sorojini Devi and Director Childline Bishnupur L Pishak Singh as presidium members.
As a part of the function, Society For Disabled Person Manipur donated one wheelchair each to two disabled persons from Kakching and Thanga while many disabled persons enthralled the gatherings with their performances during the function.
MLA Kumbi AC also presented modest gifts to members of SDP Manipur as a mark of respect and SDP Manipur also gifted simple present to all the participating disabled persons.
Speaking at the occasion, MLA S Bira Singh stressed on the need of peaceful coexistence and said one should treat others with respect and love.
Meanwhile, a voluntary blood donation camp was also held in connection with the World Disabled Day at Tronglaobi LP School, Bishnupur District while an awareness programme was also conducted today.
The camp was organized by Tronglaobi Youth Development and Cultural Association in association with Bharat Vikas Parishad Moirang Kendra and Lions Club of Moirang under the sponsorship of State Blood Transfusion Council and Blood Bank JNIMS Porompat while about 100 donors donated their blood during the camp which was led by Associate Prof Dr O Geetchandra Singh along with six medical staff.
A discussion programme was also conducted regarding the benefit of blood donation and equal treatment to disabled persons which was attended by retd Principal Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School T Manglem Singh, President Lions Club of Moirang District 322-D Ph Novin and Advisor Bharat Vikas Parishad Moirang Kendra N Joy Singh as dignitaries.
Dr Ksh Umananda Singh, retd Professor Y Modhu Singh and retd Principal AK Sunderkumar Singh spoke on the topics "Blood Donation and World Disabled Day", "Lions Club of Moirang" and "Bharat Vikas Parishad" as resource persons.
Jiribam: Achievement of Rising Maiden (ARM) also organized "World Disability Day Celebration" at the office of Institute For Children With Disability (ICD) with the theme "Empowerment of person with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality" today at around 11 am.
The programme was attended by S Shanti Devi, Chairperson Jiribam Municipality, Jiribam; S Jadhob Singh, President, Parents Association of ICD, Jiribam; H Bashulal Singh (MPS), Addl SP, Jiribam; S Sushila Devi, President, AJMP, Jiribam as presidium members.
The programme began with the lighting of flame by the presidium members while inpirational song were also played to encourage the disabled persons who have attended the programme in large numbers.
O Anita Devi, Secretary, ARM delivered the welcome address and key note address while the disabled persons also presented song and dance performances to the gatherings.
Speaking at the occasion, S Shanti Devi, Chairperson, Jiribam Municipality, Jiribam said that persons with disability are the gifts of God and they deserve all the respect and love from every persons while adding that it is a big responsibility for ICD, Jiribam to look after the needs and requirements of the PWDs.
S Jadhob Singh, President, Parents Association of ICD, Jiribam said that it is duty of the society to protect PWDs and urged the parents and guardian of disabled persons to let their wards participate in any of the events organized by ICD including sports and other activities.
H Bashulal Singh (MPS), Addl SP, Jiribam appealed the gatherings to show respect and treat disabled persons with love and affection.
S Sushila Devi, President, AJMP, Jiribam encouraged the parents to let their disabled children enjoy every moment of life and let them expressed their desire and talents while adding that the parents should take advantage of various welfare scheme launched for disabled persons by the Govt.
