Imphal, June 03 2012:
With Dr Nimaichand Luwang resigning as Party chief, M Umananda, the incumbent Vice President of Manipur People's Party (MPP), is all set to be anointed as the new party President tomorrow.
According to a reliable source, after discussing the matter by the Working Committee of MPP, the Central Working Committee of MPP would hold a joint meeting with Umananda where he would be offered the post of party President.
On May 29 last, Dr Nimaichand Luwang faxed his resignation letter citing his inability to continue in the position of party President on account of his medical profession, thus compelling the Central Committee of MPP to take the decision of appointing incumbent Vice President Umananda as the new party chief, the source added.
It may be noted here that Y.Mangi, Thounaojam Chaoba and Robin Blacky, who were respectively holding the posts of Vice President, Advisor and General Secretary of the Party, too have earlier submitted their resignation letters.
