Killing of HSO president : Condemnations pour in unabated ; UPF condemns, urges all not to remain silent

The United People's Front, a conglomerate of various Kuki armed group and an entity to Tripartite Political Dialogue has strongly condemned the brutal assassination of Haokip Students' Organization president by unknown armed miscreants in evening of June 23 at his residence .
Information publicity secretary of the outfit, Thanglenlal Doungel said that the assassination of Letkholal @ Palal Haokip, president of Haokip Students' Organization has deeply hurt the UPF and strongly condemned the killing .
He said, "while we are moving ahead with the Government in solving our vexed political issues under Tripartite Political Dialogue, we should not accommodate killing in the society rather we should all work promote peace and understanding among us .
"It is very unfortunate that a sincere student leader has been nonsensically eliminated and it deeply upsets the UPF as it does not promote such killing in society", he said and wondered as to why the student leader had to be targeted despite his immense contribution to the society as a whole .
He continued that Palal Haokip was not only a student leader but also a responsible father, a sincere husband and a mentor of thousands of students and youth .
Whoever is involved in the brutal murder of the HSO president must surrender before the public and restore peace for the welfare of the community, he added .
The UPF also appealed to all not to promote such unwanted activities in society and instead put collective efforts to deliver justice to the victim and the bereaved family while urging all to enhance peace in the society and avoid violence in future .
Meanwhile, Doungel also conveyed the organization’s sincere condolence to the bereaved family and shared the pain and grief of the family more particularly his innocent son and his wife .
"UPF prays for heavenly solace and comfort to the bereaved family members", said Thanglenlal Doungel and prayed that the departed soul rest in peace .
UPF also urged the State Government to sincerely investigate the case and make maximum efforts to deliver speedy justice to the victim as well as the family members .
It also appealed to all light minded CSOs in general and student organization leaders of Manipur more particularly from the Kuki community not to remain silent over the killing of the HSO president till justice is delivered .
The Thadou Inpi-GHQs and Thadou Women Association-GHQs in separate statements have also strongly condemned the assassination of the president of Haokip Students' Organization on June 23 evening at NGV, Imphal near his residence .
Haokam Kipgen, general secretary, Thadou Inpi-GHQs said that the gruesome murder of Letkholal @ Palal Haokip, who was also the former Info Secy TSA-GHQs is strongly condemned by Thadou Inpi and denounced the killing in the severest manner .
He also said that such wanton killing has increased immensely in society and such a trend needs to be checked immediately .
Haokam Kipgen added that the murders should be unmasked at any cost and justice should be delivered to the victim and the bereaved family .
Meanwhile, Thadou Women Association-GHQs has also registered their strong resentment over the killing of Palal Haokip and condemned the murder in the strongest term .
Tingnei Lhouvum, general secretary, TWA-GHQs said that the ruthless killing of the HSO president who worked for the welfare of the people is a challenge to the struggles of CSO leaders to something good for the people .
She also pointed out that the merciless assassination of the HSO president is beyond the expectation of all and a complete violation of human rights which cannot be accepted by every right thinking human being in society .
The Thadou women also urged the State Government for justice and conveyed its endorsement and support to KSO-GHQs which is seeking justice for the deceased HSO president .
It also extended its support to the bereaved family .
The Hmar Students’ Association, Imphal Joint Headquarters has also strongly condemned the killing of the KSO president and added that such senseless killing will only bring chaos and destruction to society.
The student organisation also deeply condoled the demise of the student leader and extended its condolence to the bereaved family members .
Strongly condemning the killing, Zillai General Headquarters (Vaiphei Students’ Association) said that the dastardly killing of the HSO president was a cowardly act and added that such violent activities do more harm to the perpetrators and their supporters.
Sharing the pain of the bereaved family members, VSA prayed that the Almighty give comfort to the family members.
