Imphal, November 22 2013 :
Acknowledging India as an emerging global economy, the Mumbai-based Trade Advisor of Ministry of Commerce, Royal Thai Government Zarin P Bhesania opined that India could make big strides in economy if the young leaders are given a chance to govern the country.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao in an exclusive interview at the venue of the ongoing Manipur Sangai Festival-2013 here today, Trade Advisor Zarin said that the Indian President, Prime Minister and other leaders are aged and so they should better handover the baton to the young blood.
The country would progress further if those veteran leaders act as advisors of the Government.
Zarin further maintained that the diplomatic issues with China should not become a hindrance for India to develop friendly ties with other Southeast Asian countries.
Manipur is the gateway to Southeast Asia and it should be in the forefront of India's Look East Policy, she added.
Dwelling on the Sangai Festival, she said that the festival could open up more economic opportunities for the State, which is predominantly non-industrialized.
It is a platform to attract foreign investors and prove economic feasibility in the State.
Moreover, favourable climate and hospitality of the people are some added advantages of Manipur to be a tourist hotspot.

The inauguration of Tulihal International Airport with the landing of a chartered flight of Golden Myanmar yesterday is a remarkable step towards improving air connectivity with other Southeast Asian countries, Zarin noted.
She commented that the organizers have greatly improved the Sangai Festival in terms of stalls and security measures.
In the previous years, there were some ugly incidents.
The lady stall keepers were even teased by some drunkard visitors.
The presence of a large number of security personnel along with installation of surveillance equipments in and around the festival venue would somehow prevent untoward incidents during the festival.
The Thai Trader Advisor further decried bandh as an impediment to growth and development of a state, and appealed to all to shun violence and move forward to achieve economic growth and development.
Zarin has been a regular participant of the Sangai Festival.
She is attending the festival for the third time in succession.
About 15 premium stalls from Thailand with an array of items ranging from imitation jewellery to clothing items are being opened at the Sangai Festival.
The imitation jewellery items and pearls are priced between Rs.50 and Rs.3 lakhs.
Young girls and women visiting the festival often keep their eyes at the Thai stalls hoping to get a good deal of their favourite ornaments.
The Thai stall keepers are also hoping to make good sales during the 10-day Sangai festival that kicked off yesterday with much charm and fanfare.
Above all, a cultural troupe from Thailand would perform on the 9th day of Sangai Festival on November 29 .
