The celebration would continue for two days.
Presentation of 40th Anniversary Mementos to Toppers of HSLC Examinations from 1973 to 2012 as well as to past Chairmen and Secretaries of the Board marked the inaugural function.
Speaking on the occasion, Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro observed that the education system in the State has improved to a certain level since the inception of BOSEM in 1972 .
Along with upgradation of the Engineering Cell of Education Department into an Engineering Wing, an amount of Rs 300 crores has been sanctioned to construct school buildings under SSA.
However, School Management and Development Committee (SMDC) filed in a case in the court demanding that the Committee be engaged with the works of the school construction.
As a result, the process of constructing schools has been delayed, the Minister said.
He also reminded SMDC that the funds sanctioned under SSA for the school construction is not meant for personnel use but for the development of education in the state.
While appealing to the SMDC to withdraw their case in the interest of the student community and for the development of education, the Minister warned that all those contractors who have willingly come up for the construction of schools should do their work with sincerity and any contractors who are found to have not completed the construction work even after sanctioning of funds would be dealt seriously.
In this connection, all the DCs have been informed to lodge FIR against those unworthy contractors and take up legal actions accordingly.
Furthermore, the Minister informed that the proposed Manipur Education Service is all set to be implemented by the beginning of 2013.Process to recruit AIs, DIs and ZEOs under MPSC is also almost completed.

They should be allowed to educate in an environment free from all sorts of disturbances.
Dragging them on to the roads and make them participate in agitations will do no good to the students in their future career.
