Children's, competitive books selling like hot cakes

In the ongoing Imphal Book Fair, 2012 being jointly organized by Raja Ram Mohan Roy Foundation, Kolkata and State Central Library, Manipur at Hapta Kangjeibung, books on competitive examinations and children books are selling like hot cakes, said S Tampakleima, Chief Librarian, State Central Library.
Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Tampakleima said that as per records obtained from each participating bookstall, most of the visitors are purchasing children's and competitive examinations (mainly UPSC and SSC) books.
Stalls selling these kinds of books are having a hectic time doing brisk business earning around Rs 30,000 per day.
Apart from that, some of the colleges and educational institutions purchase or booked academic books in bulk amounting to Rs 1 to 2 lakh.
Tampakleima maintained that Imphal Book Fair is the most favourable place for purchasing books that are not available in the state.
In this fair, booklovers can avail the opportunity of purchasing their favourite books from a single stop.
Considering the response of the visitors, organizers have also increased the number of stalls.
Now the total number of stall is 105 (51 from Manipur and 54 from other publishers outside the state).
Moreover, various books are importing from different places to sell in this fair.
