Meet demands removal of AFSPA

Imphal, December 21 2012:
A public meeting on removal of AFSPA was held at the office of Kounu Lairembi Thougal Lup at Senjam Chirang under Imphal East district today.
The meeting was organized under the joint aegis of Regional Alliance for Justice (RAJ), Senjam Chirang Youth Club and Kounu Lairembi Thougal Lup.
Speaking on the occasion, Kimboi, Convenor of RAJ, stated that ever since the imposition of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), 1958, in the State of Manipur, the people have been suffering at the hands of the security forces with a number of cases of killing, torture and forced disappearance reported from different parts of the State.
The people of the State have been agitating for removal of the black Law from the State and different countries of the world have recommended for scraping of the Act.
However, the State as well as the Central Government having not paid any heed to the demands of the people.
The function was also attended by T Indramani, Ph Kumar and Ph Ingocha as Presidium members.
