Seimang Lupho, president of Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai said that in support of the JAC Against the Unnatural Shifting of District Hospital, Imphal East from Sagolmang, the people of Saikul will endorse the 36 hour general strike in Saikul.
Earlier, the civil society organizations of Saikul under the aegis of Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai had already announced its unceasing support to the JAC apart from cautioning the State Government over its decision to shift the hospital.
The KISG president also said that people of Saikul AC and Khundrakpam AC expressed discontentment over the State Government's decision to shift IE District Hospital from Sagolmang in the form of various mode of agitation since the past more than 40 days.
The Manipur People's Party (MPP) too has decided to extend every possible support to the steps taken up by the Joint Action Committee Against the Unnatural Shifting of Imphal East District Hospital from Sagolmang, including the proposed general strike called on May 19 .
Making the declaration at a press meet held today at its Paona Bazar office today, MPP president Oinam Jugindro Singh informed that a team of the regional party visited Sagolmang where the foundation stone for construction of Imphal East District Hospital was laid by the Health Minister earlier.
Observing that Sagolmang is the right place for the Imphal East District Hospital as it is strategically located, he said that shifting the site from Sagolmang to Kyamgei is beyond reasonable points and unethical.
He said that the onus lies on the present Government to construct the district hospital at Sagolmang although the foundation stone was laid during the tenure of the previous Government.
Sagolmang is situated 25 kms from Imphal and has many difficulties in terms of health care services and transportation.
Building the district hospital at the site would witness many changes, he asserted.
Asking the Government not to play politics when it comes to construction of hospitals, he stated that the steps initiated by the JAC are legitimate as Sagolmang lacks access to basic health care services.
MPP will endorse future course of actions to be carried out by the JAC in pursuit of its demand, he vowed.
