Imphal, October 13 2014:
Expressing strong confidence of retaining the Hiyanglam seat, Trinamool Congress has said that the by-election would witness a one-to-one fight between them and Congress and dismissed the BJP as a non-entity.
Speaking at a press conference held at their Moirangkhom office, All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) State Vice-President M Thoiba said that the party conducted an election rally for the party candidate Dr Y Radheshyam at Langmeidong public ground yesterday.
However, many party leaders and workers could not reach the meeting venue on time as the road was blocked as part of the security measures for Chief Minister, who attended another election rally for Congress candidate Elangbam Dwijamani, Thoiba added.
Saying that the prolonged blocking of road created lots of inconvenience to the general public, M Thoiba vehemently decried the security arrangement.
Taking part at the press conference, party Vice-President MI Khan said what the Chief Minister had promised yesterday during the election rally held at Sekmaijin was a lie.
Taking a dig at BJP as well, MI Khan said that Union Home State Minister Kiren Rijiju's assurance to bring a special package to Hiyanglam A/C was also a complete deceit.
Responding to a query whether TC would lodge a formal complaint against blocking of road to ensure safe passage of the Chief Minister's cavalcade, party Spokesperson P Premananda said that they have no faith in the State election machinery.
