Imphal, June 13 2019: Altogether 37 non locals without any proper documents were detained by KSA from a bus and a cruiser which had were headed to Imphal along Imphal-Dimapur and Imphal-Jiribam roads respectively today.

Speaking to media persons at KSA office at Khoyathong today, its president Chetan Ningthoujam alleged that the said individuals were being brought into the State by two contractors (one based in Manipur and another based in Silchar) for work in Kanglatongbi and Matripukhri.

He continued that even though the Manipur People Bill is waiting for assent from the President of the country, a large number of non locals are pouring into the State non-stop.

However, the police as well as all the other authorities concerned are turning a blind eye to the issue, he alleged.

Chetan informed that today, KSA volunteers caught 24 non locals (without any proper documents) who were being brought into the State aboard a Royal Rajdhani bus (MN0561128) which was bound for Imphal, at Koirengei, along the Imphal-Dimapur road.

Upon questioning, the said individuals revealed that they had been brought into the State by one contractor identified as Ratan of Koirengei with the help of another contractor based in Assam identified as Akram.

Chetan continued that not long after, KSA conducted a checking of a suspected cruiser (AS11DC2490) at Khoyathong and found that the vehicle plying on the Imphal-Jiribam line had 13 non locals without proper ID proofs on board.

When questioned, they revealed that they had been hired by one Nazrul Islam, a contractor from Silchar, for building a Church and a school at Kanglatongbi, he added.

Announcing that KSA has banned Royal Rajdhani with immediate effect, Chetan instructed all those involved in the ticket counters of Imphal-Guwahati bus services located at Guwahati to appear before KSA office within three days.

He then informed that the detained non locals will be handed over to the police and appealed to the authority concerned to take up measures to prevent the unchecked influx of non locals in the State.

Expressing suspicion that the State Government might be trying to dilute the indigenous population by promoting the influx of the non locals, the KSA president cautioned that if the authorities stay undeterred as they are now, a day will come when the indigenous population of the State are completely wiped out from their own land.
