109 Battalion CRPF organised Jal Shakti Abhiyan at Mongsangei, Makha Leikai, Imphal today, conveyed a statement of Commandant of 109 Bn CRPF.
The function was graced by Vinod Kumar, Commandant as the chief guest in presence of K Rajiv, Dy Comdt, Kh Herachandra, president of Social Welfare Youth Club Mongsangei Makha Leikai, villagers and officers, SOs, other ranks of 109 Bn.
Apart from the function, a tree plantation was carried out in the area of Makha Leikai and the community pond was also cleaned, which is traditional source of water harvesting.
On the other hand, 143 Bn CRPF also observed Jal Shakti Abhiyan at Lamphelpat with officers/Sub ordinate Officers/ Jawan/Families and locals of Yaipha Leikai and its surrounding areas, said a press release issued by Commndant 143 Bn CRPF.
Lalchand Yadav, Commandant 143 Bn inaugurated the function in the presence of officers, Jawans and locals.
The officer delivered lectures on the importance of water conservation/rain water harvesting and appealed to unit personnel and locals to save water and secure the future.
A water conservation project started from July 1 at the unit location which will go on till November 30, it added.
Jal Shakti Abhiyan was conducted in 86 BN CRPF under the aegis of Manipur and Nagaland Sector, CRPF yesterday.
As a part of the programme, hundreds of saplings were planted in the HQ and COY locations, area near Thangmeiband pond.
The pond was also cleaned and the officers and jawans interacted with the members of Thangmeiband Improvement Club about the importance of saving waters, ways and techniques to how they can play leading roles in taking the campaign forward.
While interacting with the TIC members, Sh Narayan Balai, Second in command, 86 BN CRPF, told that Sh Kalyan Singh, commandant, is very interested to conduct such programme.
Sh S Mujib Ali, officers, subordinate officers and other 86 BN CRPF personnel participated in the Jal Shakti Abhiyan.
