HCBAM clarifies

High Court Bar Association of Manipur has strongly condemned the claim made by one Utsav Singh Bains, claiming himself to be an Advocate practising in the Supreme Court of India, who in a memorandum to the Prime Minister stated that none of the lawyers practising in the High Court of Manipur are ready to represent the family of a deceased namely Irom Roger, who was killed in a road rage involving a son of the Chief Minister of Manipur.
Similar statements are also published in some sections of the media, both National and State.
The HCBAM in a statement issued by its secretary Ng Jotindra Luwang clarified that none of the lawyers enrolled with the Bar Association have been approached by the lawyer nor the family of the deceased.
"As such, making such malicious statements are derogatory/contemptuous in nature and such statements are condemned in the strongest term" it said while adding that, "this should not be repeated in future" .
