Troops of 8 Assam Rifles reportedly killed a suspected PLA cadre during an encounter at Tuitam Khongkhai village under Chakpikarong police station in
Chandel district.
According to police report, the encounter took place between the troops of 8 Assam Rifles posted at Sajik Tampak and armed cadres of PLA's 252 Mobile Battalion at around 3.30 am of November 22 .
In the encounter, Assam Rifles personnel killed one PLA cadre and recovered one M-16 Rifles, five magazines, 206 live ammunition of M-16, one hand grenade, one Haversack and one ammunition pouch from the possession of the slain cadre.
The identity of the slain PLA is yet to be established and the body has been picked up and deposited at RIMS morgue, the police report added.
Meanwhile, according to a statement issued by OC of Chakpikarong PS, the slain cadre was found clad in Olive green jacket, white Tshirt with 'Any Hour Any' wordings on it with another black T-shirt underneath and black trouser.
He appeared to be around 25 to 30 years of age with slim body, fair complexion and 5.3 feet tall.
