EGM condemns

Editors Guild, Manipur has strongly condemned the manner in which some agitators verbally abused and threatened media persons who went to cover a protest against the acquisition of land for sports university in Yaithibi Loukon today.
Appealing to all concerned not to threaten media persons on duty for any reason, a statement issued by the secretary general of EGM urged all concerned to contact EGM through any editor or journalist or media house if they have any issues with coverage of any event or incident by media outlets.
The EGM also requested all media persons to exercise caution while covering sensitive issues.
The reporters who were threatened have been identified as Gyanand Naorem, correspondent of Hueiyen Lanpao, Jayanta Thokchom of Impact TV and Joychandra Gotimayum of Image TV went to the spot to cover the agitation organised by 44-Yaithibi Loukon Land Owners' Association, Sora.
Besides verbally abusing them, the reporters were sent back from Sora with a threat.
The reporters were also denied passage to the spot by the protesters.
