Women of Hungpung unit inmate cleanliness drive for social development and clean environment

With a view to promote and maintain cleanliness in Hungpung, Ukhrul District headquarter, Hungpung Women apex body, Women of Hungpung Unit for social Development (WHUSA) has launched a cleanliness drive on August 18.The drive was in line to observe WHUSA's Year of Cleanliness (2018-19).The initiative is a long term plan to maintain clean environment and halthy lifestyle.
Women folks from 30 neighborhood (under Hungpung jurisdiction) came it in full force to clean their neighborhood while garbages were collected and unwanted weeds uprooted along the roads and lanes.
Apart from that evergreen plants and flowers were also planted.
With a long term plan to beautify the town, the initiative also involved planting cherry trees, maintaining proper dustbins and disposing garbage using the service of ADC Small Town Garbage Disposal.
Moreover, Hunphun and Hungpung share the headquarter of Ukhrul district and as such the women based organization like WHUSA is involved in maintaining peace and harmony while improving the social development in the area.
This initiative is to involve more women in sanitation and well-being of the society.
As a part of the initiative, the body has also announced cash prizes for the best kept neighborhood which is pegged at Rs 1,00,000, Rs 80,000 and 50,000 respectively, in order to boost the interest of the local women folks.
Besides, Ukhrul Town which is abundant in natural beauty need to maintain a sustainable clean environment as the population kept on rising while number of vehicles and commercial establishments has increased considerable in the recent past.
Mention may be made that Ukhrul ADC has recently organized a three day extensive cleanliness drive in the district town as part of Swacch Survekshan Grameen.
