Liquor seized at Noney, Moreh

Longmai Area (women's) Nisha Bandh while carrying out search and checking of suspected vehicles at Longmai (Noney) Bazar seized 60 litres of local made liquor from the possession of one Auto Rickshaw bearing registration no MNO1C/2830 today, owned by Soihiamthui Kamei (22) s/o Jacob Kamei of Awangkhul village, Noney District.
Speaking to the media persons, the Longmai Area Nisha Bandh leaders expressed that regular transportation of drugs & alcohols are transported through NH-37 due to the failure of the head of the Police department as they have not deployed any police personnel at Longmai (Noney) Bazar and NH-37 to look after the problems within the jurisdiction of Noney PS .
They also urged the concerned department to look into the matter and instruct to reopen Check Post and deployed personnel at Longmai Noney Bazar to minimise the traffic congestion and illegal transportation of ban substances.
If the concerned department fails to take up necessary action at the earliest, the Civil Organisations of Longmai (Noney) area will take up any kind of agitation, cautioned the women folk leader.
TENGNOUPAL: 43 Assam Rifle posted at Moreh has seized 168 foreign liquor bottle from the possession of two persons on June 16 from near Ganesha gate at Indo-Myanmar border, report our correspondent.
Acting on a specific information that cache of illegal foreign liquor is going to be smuggled at Indo-Myanmar border, AR personnel conducted frisking at the border and seized the large cache of liquor worth Rs 1 lakh.
The seized liquor along with the two persons have been handed over to customs preventive force, Moreh later.
