Prayer sessions mark June 18 in Naga areas

Senapati, June 18 2019:
Naga 'tribe hohos' under the aegis of the United Naga Council (UNC) organised prayer programmes in their respective offices in Naga areas in the State of Manipur on Tuesday for the settlement of the Indo-Naga peace process at the earliest "based on the unique history of the Nagas and situation".
The prayer programmes were also held "for the strict adherence of the ceasefire ground rules by the NSCN and the Government of India so as to let peace prevail in the region including Indo-Myanmar Naga areas international border" .
The prayer programmes were held in Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Senapati and Chandel.

The UNC organised the prayer programme in Imphal.
Speaking to Newmai News Network after the programmes, S Kho John, president of the UNC, urged the Government of India "to be bold enough to resolve the nearly century old Naga political problem" .
The UNC chief lamented that the issue continues to drag on for this long.
"For how long the Naga people have to suffer ?" asked S Kho John.
The UNC president, however, said that the Naga people have high hope that the Narendra Modi Government will resolve the Naga political issue at the earliest.
S Kho John said that resolving the Naga political issue will bring positive impact in the region.
"Once the Naga political issue is resolved peace will reign in the region," he added.
Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) also held a special mass prayer at the office chamber of the TNL president today.
The mass prayer was held in support to the call of an expeditious settlement of the political dialogue between the NSCN (IM) and the Government of India.
The mass prayer session was led by TNL executive member Hormi.
A brief talk on the Naga political movement and the historical background was held ahead of the prayer session.
During the prayer programme, the attending Tangkhul CSOs leaders prayed for the leaders of NSCN (IM) and Indian Government.
Speaking at the sidelines of the prayer meet, TSL president Veronica Zingkhai said it is a non violence approach to expressed our demand for Nagas aspiration for permanent solution.
