Ukhrul, July 13 2015 :
The Committee for Release of Ningkhan Shimray CRNS aired their strong resentment against the imprisonment of Ningkhan Shimray alias Anthony, chief of foreign affairs, NSCN IM and urged the Centre to release the Naga leader without any condition, Mungchan Zimik reports.
According to a statement, Ningkhan Shimray has been put behind bars at Tihar jail by the Government of India for more than 4 years even though the Centre and NSCN IM are under political dialogue.
He was arrested at Kathmandu in 2010 while on his way to Delhi for political dialogue with the Centre.
The 36 villages association of Ukhrul district while questioning the sincerity of the Government of India said the hope for Indo-Naga peace solution has faded after the arrest of Ningkhan Shimray while the talk is underway.
CRNS secretary KP Ashang said the Government of India has deliberately criminalised Ningkhan Shimray by throwing him behind the bars at Tihar jail without any trial till date.
He said, if ULFA senior leader A Rajkowa and Rajen N Daimary of NDFB could be released on bail for peace processes, why can't the NSCN IM functionary Shimray be freed for felicitating peace talk.
The 36 areas villagers also appealed to the indigenous people of the State, especially Nagas living in the Indian sub-continent to support their demand for release of Ningkhan Shimray.
