Rickshaw drivers

Forty five Rickshaw thela pullers and some gambler rickshaw drivers rounded up from different locations of the city area on the second day of a specific drive today were asked to follow prescribed guidelines before being set free, informed a All Manipur Rickshaw Drivers and Pullers' Welfare Association.
According to an Association release the 45 thela rickshaw pullers were pulled up for non possession of valid documents (license) with the others rounded up during the specific driver for indulgence in anti-social activities (gambling) instead of rendering service to the public.
The release issued by its IPR secretary Md Abdul Hamid also accused agents manning parking lots in the commercial areas of causing traffic congestion through unethical practices like allowing parking of vehicles at non-designated places.
Urging authorities concerned to monitor activities of these parking agents, the Association also appealed for cooperation by the public in its drive launched yesterday.
