'Thoubal District Hospital needs Govt attention'

Thoubal district NGOs, civil organisations and Meira Paibi associations have called for immediate attention of concerned authorities to the present condition of Thoubal District Hospital.
A public meeting to discuss the deteriorating condition of Thoubal District Hospital was held today at Thoubal Athokpam Khunou Community Hall.
The meeting was presided by Oinam Gobordhan Singh.
During the meeting, participants stressed on the infrastructure deficiencies and sanitation issues of the district hospital.
According to the talkers of the public meeting, the district hospital has been reduced to the status of a PHC due to its varied inadequacies and negligence of the State Government.
Emphasising on the lack of sufficient medical staff, proper infrastructure, and the need of proper sanitation, the local bodies and NGOs discussed on the possibilities of inclusion of the members of NGOs to the hospital management committee to ensure desirable functioning of the hospital.
The public meeting unanimously decided on forming a vigilance and monitoring committee and also to demand immediate attention of the State Government to the present condition of the hospital.
The meeting also decided to stage agitation in case the State Government fails to respond to the demands made by the people.
The meeting was attended by members of NGOs, clubs, associations and Meira Paibis of Heirok, Khangabok, Wangjing, Charangpat, Athokpam, and Thoubal.
