Political parties endorse nationwide bandh on May 31

The Janata Dal (United) has appealed to various political parties, students, meira paibi NGOs and other bodies to support the nationwide general strike announced for May 31 to protest the sudden hike in petrol price.
In a statement, JDU expressed its concern about the effect of the hike in a State like Manipur that imports essential commodities via roadway and demanded that the Central Government and the State Government roll back the decision.
Further it demanded that shops should put up prices board with prices of the commodities for people to see.
JDU also applealed to the Manipur Government to control the market rate of all products at the earliest.
Meanwhile, terming the price hike of petroleum an "anti people policy of the Goverment of India", the Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress, inforned that it would wholeheartedly support the nationwide ban on May 31, said a statement.
