Even as CRPF continues to escort goods laden trucks, oil tankers and bullet tankers along Imphal-Dimapur stretch of the National Highway 39, regardless of the UNC sponsored 25-days extended economic blockade which has come into force, one Maruti car and a Gypsy have been reportedly hijacked by uni-dentified persons along the route in the last 24 hours.
Information received from Mao police said that CRPF today escorted 85 Imphal bound loaded trucks, 16 bullet tankers, 14 oil tankers, 1 truck carrying FCI rice, 3 DIs and 3 Shaktiman while 47 empty trucks and 11 oil tankers have been escorted to Dimapur.
After one Maruti car bought from West Bengal was hijacked by unidentified persons near Mao Gate on the Nagaland side of the border yesterday, one Gypsy heading towards Manipur was also hijacked from Khuzuma area today, said police.
On the other hand, landslide that occurred along Imphal-Dimapur Road near Kohima is yet to be cleared and all the vehicles heading towards Manipur or which have gone from here are coming through a by-pass route.
