Health Minister L Jayantakumar laid the foundation stone for the construction of a Homeopathy Pharmacy and Drug Testing Laboratory at Keirao Khunou, Imphal East today.
The function was graced by the Health Minister, Keirao A/C MLA L Rameshwor Meitei, Joint Secretary (Health) Rang Peter, AYUSH Department Director A Guneshwor Sharma, Additional Director Dr Y Lukhoi Singh as the chief guest, special guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Speaking at the function, Jayantakumar asked the educated youth to come up with innovative ideas and ways to generate income using their wisdom and skills.
He emphasized on the need of establishing a strong work culture in the State while pointing out that searching for Government jobs in the State has become highly competitive but the Government does not have the capacity to provide Government jobs to all the educated youth.
He also urged the unemployed people in the State, particularly the youth in Keirao A/C, to reap the benefits of the State Government's plan to cultivate aromatic and herbal medicinal plants on a large scale with the aim of providing employment and a source of income for the unemployed people.
Stating that the State Government is giving top priority to the health sector, Jayantakumar asserted that AYUSH system of treatment has been widely accepted and the Government has added this treatment as an alternative form of treatment in every Government hospitals and health institutions.
Admitting that Imphal East district is lagging behind Imphal West district in terms of infrastructure development and health sector, the Health Minister conveyed that the Homeopathy Pharmacy and Drug Testing Laboratory at Keirao Bitra were set up with that point in mind.
He then assured that some preferences will be given to the locals of Keirao A/C in case low profile staff manpower for the Homeopathy Pharmacy and Drug Testing Laboratory are recruited.
On the other hand, Rameshwor lauded the Chief Minister and Health Minister for acknowledging the poor health facilities in Keirao A/C and for setting up the Homeopathy Pharmacy and Drug Testing Laboratory at the same Constituency.
He exuded confidence that the initiative taken up by the State Government will go a long way towards addressing the problems of health sector in the A/C.He declared that the State Government is also preparing to take up certain developmental works, including initiation of a PHED scheme at Keirao Wangkhem and irrigation plan at another location in Keirao A/C .
On the other hand, Rang Peter appealed the public, especially the locals of Keirao A/C to consider the infrastructure as their own asset and to safeguard them well.
He also asked the contractors and authorities concerned to maintain quality at the time of construction.
