DESAM to assess progress of 'School Fagathansi Mission'

The Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) is set to kick off a drive from December 11 to assess the conditions of the 60 Model Schools shortlisted to be developed under State Government's own 'School Fagathansi Mission' which was introduced last year.
The mission was introduced to give thrust towards improvement of Government schools in terms of physical and manpower infrastructures and performance of students.
The assessment of the conditions of the schools and the progress of the mission will be apprised to the Government and the people, said DESAM in a statement issued today.
The inspection or assessment drive will also conform to DESAM's ongoing Mass Reformation Campaign Phase-II, it said.
It may be mentioned that the mission will be considered fruitful when the schools shortlisted under the mission fulfills its parameters (8).Under the mission, the schools should be able to accommodate preferably 600-1000 students or have capacity to grow and teachers posted in the schools should serve a minimum period of 3 years.
Other parameters include provisions for decent classrooms, school campus, laboratories, smart classrooms, comfortable and sufficient school furniture, outdoor Gymnasium, separate toilets for boys and girls, drinking water facilities, electrification etc.
For successful implementation of the mission, the State Government has sanctioned a huge fund, said DESAM while stating its stand to support any kind of positive and constructive project initiated by the Government for the improvement of the education sector in the State.
