Imphal, October 08 2012:
Peeved with the way BRO is executing development work on Imphal-Jiribam highway (NH 37), Works Department has collected all relevant documents and submitted the same to the Chief Minister to discuss the matter at the Prime Minister's level, stated Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar.
Speaking to some media persons at his Old Secretariat Office today, the Works Minister confided that the BRO's working style on NH 37 was not at all satisfying.
"I've already written to the Union Defence Minister on the matter", he said.
PWD engineers went to NH 37 on September 13 and 14 and took photographs of its different sections.
The photographs were later submitted to the Chief Minister.
With regard to the highway development work, the State Government has been providing all possible assistance to the BRO even though there are many areas where PWD cannot do anything.
Meanwhile, all procedures have been completed to sanction Rs 1.5 crore for each hill constituency and Rs one crore for each valley constituency under SPA for development of road infrastructure.
The programme would be implemented once the working designs are complete.
Work programmes for construction/development of roads at the State capital, district headquarters, Mao, Moreh and Jiribam have been chalked out.
Moreover, due process has been initiated to take necessary funds from the Prime Minister's package for development of three most important roads in all the hill district headquarters, Ratankumar claimed.
Within Imphal, Iroishemba to Zoo road, Imphal-Kangchup road, Naoremthong-Ghari road, Imphal-Mayang Imphal road would be developed/repaired on priority basis, the Minister added.
